Excellence in Education Awards Honor Outstanding Teachers, Principals, Districts
Eight educators and two school districts were recognized in May for their outstanding service to education as winners
of the 2010 H-E-B Excellence
in Education Awards.
The H-E-B Excellence in
Education Awards Program was
created to celebrate and
recognize the contributions of
public school professionals
whose leadership and dedication inspire a love of learning in
students of all backgrounds and
abilities.
Winners of the 2010
awards and their respective
categories are the following
individuals and districts:
Leadership Secondary

Corpus Christi ISD
The Leadership Award
honors teachers with 10 to 20
years in the classroom. The two
winning teachers each received
a $10,000 check for themselves
and a $10,000 grant for their
school.

Award salutes teachers with
more than 20 years of experience. The two winning teachers
each receive $25,000 in cash
for themselves and a $25,000
grant for their school.
The School Principal Award
salutes outstanding school
principals. The two winning
principals each receive $10,000
in cash for themselves and a
$25,000 grant for their school.
As the winning small
school district, Lovejoy ISD
receives a $50,000 cash prize.
The Rising Star Award
recognizes teachers with less
than 10 years of experience.
The two winning teachers each
received a $5,000 check for
themselves and a $5,000 grant
for their schools.
